Pooh – Nursery based on the Little Red Hen

8/12/26 (1) What I like and why: My favorite part is Rabbit works on a big task, all the way from growing wheat to baking a yummy cake, and he breaks it up into smaller tasks. I like the idea of breaking a big project into smaller tasks.

At the end, his friends shows up, and unlike the original nursery story, they bring something with them, i.e. Piglet brings a painting of Rabbit’s wheat field. I like this because it’s a way to make up for their mistake of not helping him. Instead of showing up empty handed and just eat the cake, they do something to make the situation better.

(2) Techniques:

-Do something now, no matter how small, to atone for a mistake is always better than doing nothing.

-I like the accumulation and breaking a big task into smaller tasks.

(3) My story:

-I want to do the opposite of this story. Rabbit has to accomplish a big task, and everyone helps him by contributing little by little. ACCUMULATION.

One day, Deer went far from home, as she had done from time to time, to look for rare exotic plants to add to her beautiful garden. On the way home, she met a strange creature wearing a veil as to partially hide her face. The creature greeted her and asked her if she wanted some seeds from her basket.

“Yes, I’m interested,” said Deer curiously. “What kind of seeds do you have?”

The creature showed her the strange little seeds in her baskets.

“These seeds were from an ancient tree from a civilization that ceased to exist many thousand years ago.”

That gave Deer a jolt. She was almost bursted with curiosity and excitement.

“Oh my! What’s the name of the tree?”

“I don’t know the name and I don’t reckon anyone does. It’s been such a long time.”

Deer had so many questions.

“What does it look like? Does it have fruit?”

“Let’s say it’s a mystery plant. Do you want to buy it?”

“Yes, yes I do, but I have so many questions.”

“I’m afraid I don’t have answers for you. It’s better to not know and find out for yourself later when they grow big, don’t you agree?”

“But…but…”

“I’ll let you find out for yourself,” the creature said again. “One thing I can guarantee is you have never seen any plant like this plant before. Would you like to buy them?”

“OK, I guess,” said Deer. “I’m so curious right now.”

Deer gave the creature a silver coin and received a small bag of yellow seeds. On the way home, Deer kept taking the seeds out to take a closer look at them as she was walking on the grassy dirt road. Under the sunlight, they looked like gold, elegant and beautiful unlike anything she had ever seen before.

-planted, take good care, many weeks before spout, talk to them, smile at them, friends accidentally step on them, she was furious, yell at them, regret.

-her friend and neighbor and secret competitor also had a garden, jealous

Deer woke up one morning and found his garden totally destroyed. Veggies, fruits, berries, roots had all been either eaten or destroyed by a mysterious monster. She was completely terrified and in complete distraught.

“What monster could have done something like this?”

News spread and his friends immediately came over to check on her. They found her sobbing inside the house and refused to come outside because it pained her too much to look at her beloved garden in its current state.

“Are you okay, Deer?”

Deer continued sobbing and didn’t answer.

(TO MAKE IT MORE MEANINGFUL: DEER LOVED TO TALK ABOUT HER GARDEN, TALKED ABOUT EACH PLANT, TALKED ABOUT THE RARE PLANTS THAT SHE NEEDED TO GO FAR AWAY AND SPEND LOTS OF EFFORT TO FIND.

EVEN HER FRENEMY CAME TO HELP HER. NOT SURE IF SHE FELT BAD FOR DEER. OR MAYBE HER COMPETITOR CAME TO HELP HER. IS HER COMPETITOR THE ONE WHO DESTROYED THE GARDEN?

PROVING INNOCENT IS INTERESTING

SHE MET AN OLD CREATURE WHO GAVE HER THE SEEDS THAT SHE HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE AND SHE WAS VERY EXCITED TO FIND OUT WHAT PLANTS THOSE SEEDS CAME FROM.

-MYSTERY IS ALWAYS GOOD. WHAT MONSTER DESTROYED THE GARDEN?

-SHE WAS MAD AT HER FRIENDS AND YELLED AT THEM, NOW THEY CAME TO HELP HER.

-HOW TO MAKE THE RUIN OF GARDEN MEAN SO MUCH TO HER THAT READERS WONDER WHAT SHE WAS THINKING IN HER HEAD RIGHT NOW?
