Pooh’s sticky situation (1st draft)

7/30/26 This book is funny and clever. There are a couple details that I thought the author did a great job at. It’s unpredictable and surprising and more than just a simple children story. Pooh went to Rabbit’s house uninvited and ate his honey. He ate too much that his belly got too big and he got stuck in the front door. Christopher Robin said he needed to wait until he was thin enough to go through the door. Time passed and he got thinner, just enough for his friends to pull him out only to see him fly in the air and got stuck in a hole on a tree. He was happy because the tree was full of honey.

(1) what I like and why: a few details that I really like in this story:

+Rabbit is grumpy and that gives him power. Disagreement = tension. He’s not happy that Pooh ate all of his honey, and then get stuck in his door.

+ Surprise: Gopher walked by at night and I didn’t know what he was going to do, and how it all connected to the story. HE BROUGHT POOH HONEY FOR SUPPER. I didn’t expect that but it makes so much sense.

+ Surprise: Rabbit appeared just in time to stop him. I didn’t know why at first. Rabbit didn’t want Pooh to get fatter. He put up a sign “do not feed the bear”. THE RABBIT CHARACTER IS JUST AWESOME. BECAUSE HE ISN’T ACTING NICE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

+ Surprise: Pooh’s friends pull him out but then he crashes into a hollow tree. and too Pooh’s delight, the hole in the tree is full of honey.

Surprise is always good. I really like the part when Gopher wants to give Pooh some snacks and grumpy Rabbit stops him just in time.

(2) Techniques: the actions fit the character’s personality. There are surprises and unpredictable events that happen.

(3) My story: (focus on Pooh, Rabbit, and Gopher “Do not feed the bear” sign)

A similar situation similar to getting stuck in the door because too fat. Getting stuck = can’t move. A situation when you can’t move.

-Get stuck on a tree branch and can’t get down. If eat food, the branch will break.

-Get stuck on a boat without oars

-Fall into the water and doesn’t know how to swim

-Get stuck on a small island, waiting for friends to make a boat to rescue

-Get stuck in a house with enemies or bees (for Pooh) waiting outside and he wants to sneak out quietly.

-(Out of the box idea) Get stuck in an alien spaceship, not wanting to wake up the aliens.

7/31/26 I’m struggling getting started today, so it’s time to remind my self to “JUST DO IT”, “ALLOW THE WRITING TO BE BAD”, “JUST DO WHAT I CAN”, “DO IT WHILE I AM FEELING SLEEPY”

So out of all the situations above, I want to try the outrageous idea, getting stuck in an alien spaceship.

Fox and Bear happened to see a spaceship parked behind the trees, hidden among the leaves and undergrowth. They quietly walked around the gray and white spaceship with a red light flickering off and on. They saw a small clear window and peeked through it but there was nothing inside except metal floor and walls. Bear accidentally touched a button and the sliding door quickly opened wide for them to walk in. Curiously, they quietly walked through the door.

Inside they saw different things in different rooms. In a room they saw electrical stuff and visual images that went up and down that they didn’t understand. In another room, they saw all kinds of fruit, leaves, rock and soil. Bear and Fox ate pears, figs and other sweet fruits hungrily.

“I’m full.”

“I’m taking some with me for dinner later.”

“What if this belongs to someone?”

“I don’t see anyone here,” said Bear, “I don’t think anyone can live in here.”

“Who do you think picked all those fruits and everything else?”

“I don’t know.”

“I think this belongs to someone.”

“Well, if I see anyone, I will say sorry,” said Bear. “There are lots of food in here so I don’t think they will mind us eating a little.”

“I would call what we’ve eaten a little.”

“It should be fine.”

Moving on from that room, they entered a big room and what they saw scared them. Right in the middle of the big control room, a big green monster with many eyes and many tentacles sat on a big round platform. It had two antennas on top of its head and the tips of the antennas were pulsating in blue smoke. The eyes were closed shut, but the tentacles were active and moving around. On each tentacle, a small peculiar creature walked along and massaged the tentacles.

“What is that?” Bear whispered.

“I don’t know.” Fox said even more quietly. “It’s a monster of some sort.”

“I’ve never seen or heard of a monster that look like that.”

“I think this is its house.”

“Let’s get out of here. I’m scared!” said Bear.

“Yeah, walk quietly,” Fox whispered.

Before they turned around to walk away, Fox saw the small creatures on the tentacles. They saw him and Bear too, and that freaked him out. He tapped Bear and pointed at the creatures. They all locked eyes for a long moment. Fox and Bear froze, forgetting about leaving the room. The creatures though moved on without making any noises to wake the monster up. They continued to walk on top and along the tentacles and massaged them as they went.

Realizing their luck, Bear and Fox quickly turned around and quietly headed for the exit. Unfortunately, the see-through entrance door was no longer open and they had no way of getting out. They pushed the door hard but the door remained unmoved.
