Pooh Bear – A Portrait of Friendship

7/20/26 (1) What I like and why: Piglet’s friends can’t sit still for him to paint them because they have other things that they need to do. Piglet then decides to paint them while they are doing what they love to do. I like it because the solution makes sense, and it always comes down to be yourself and let others be themselves.

(2) Techniques: The solution is obvious but it makes so much sense. And the reason it is so obvious is because the principle is BE YOURSELF. That always makes sense.

(3) My story: A story with a BE YOURSELF or LET OTHERS BE THEMSELVES solution.

Squirrel is very self-centered, kinda grumpy, genuine type. It’s his birthday, and he doesn’t like any of the presents that his friends give him. He accepts the presents, thanks his friends, but he doesn’t look happy. He’s too busy collecting acorns.

His friends want him to be happy, so they try to figure out a good present for him.

“What does he like to do?”

“He doesn’t need food. He has enough acorn to last years.”

“He loves to collect acorns and store them for the winter.”

“He once tried to show me his acorn collection but I wasn’t interested in it. There are nothing else but acorns.”

“Maybe he would love it if we help him find more acorns.”

“Yeah, let’s help him and make this his happiest birthday either.”

They went to see Squirrel.

“Squirrel, can we help you find acorns?”

“No, I’d much rather find them myself. It feels good to find my own food and store them.”

“Is there anything we can do to help you?”

“No, I don’t think so.”

“Can you show us your acorn collection?”

“I would love to. Come on!”

“How many acorns do you have?”

“One thousand two hundred and forty eight.”

“You counted them all?”

“Yep”

“All of them?”

“Yep.”

“Wow that would have taken a long time.”

“It’s not a long time if you enjoy it,” said Squirrel, smiling.

“How did you find these acorns?”

“See, look over there in that blue wooden bin, those acorns I found in the old oak tree by the hill. And over there in the brown box, those I found in the new hardy tree by the water. And over there…”

Squirrel smiles ear to ear, telling his friends about the acorns and all the trees he found them in. It’s a happy day for Squirrel and his friends because they help make him happy.
