Frog and Toad are friends – the letter

Post #8 (6/26/26) Toad hates waiting for the mail to come because he never gets any mail. Frog goes home, writes a letter to Toad, and gives it to snail to deliver. For four days, they wait happily on the porch for the letter to come.

(1)What I like: They happily wait for the letter to come.

(2)Why I like it: a kind solution and I think waiting happily is very interesting. Waiting and happiness are usually two opposite things to kids and adults alike, but in this case, two opposite things work out well together. Imagine something that takes a long time or feels like it takes a long time (waiting) and it’s happiness instead of irritation. A long time of happiness. Isn’t that everyone’s dream?

(3)Techniques: Turning something bad into something good. Waiting = good.

A time when you want to the wait time to last longer.

(4)My story: What else is considered bad or not desirable?

-Taking turns (waiting)

-Being poor

-Tired

-Unable to read/do math

-Feeling scared

-Public speaking

-Cleaning up

-Brushing teeth

-Taking a shower/bath

-Hungry

-Arguing with friends

-Nobody to play with

-Being bullied

-Getting picked last

-Can’t write or draw

-Too lazy

-Too loud and loquacious

-Too quiet

-Too weak

-Broccoli

-Being told no

-Waiting for something they want

-Losing

-Sharing

-Early bedtime

-Being bored

-Being rushed

-Going outside because it’s too loud, and overwhelming

*****Toad appreciates his friend, that’s why he’s happy waiting for the letter. That’s the power of connection or love. What character yearns for:

-connection

-love (romantic, parental, friendship,

-self-expression

-safety

-spirituality

-food/shelter

(4)My story:

-Broccoli: His mom makes him eat veggies which he hates. She gives him allowance if he eats a bowl of veggies. He wants an electric scooter to impress a girl so he forces himself to eat veggies. One day a farmer teaches him how to grow broccoli and veggies in the backyard (maybe for a science fair project). He enjoys sowing the seeds, watering every day, observing how they grow, and harvesting them. Now he enjoys eating it so much that he would gladly eat a bowl every night. He gets to eat his favorite food that he himself grows and get money to buy a cool electric scooter to impress the girl of his dream.
