Frog and Toad are friends – story 2 “The Story”

“Just do it man. Stop listen to the voice in your head and just do it.” I need to say that to myself every fucking day. It helped!

In this story, Frog was sick and asked Toad to tell him a story while he was resting on Toad’s bed. Toad tried three different ways to come up with a story including standing on his head, pouring water over his head, banging his head against the wall, but none of them worked. He started to feel sick so it was Frog’s turn to tell him a story. Frog told him a story about how his friend Toad unsuccessfully tried many ways to come up with a story to help him feel better. At the end, Toad fell asleep.

(1) What I like: Toad’s solutions were funny, especially banging his head against the wall. Also I like the ending when Toad fell asleep.

(2) Why I like it: it’s funny. The ending when Toad fell asleep symbolizes for the effectiveness of Toad’s actions, it helped his friend feel better, and in turns also helped him feel better.

(3) Techniques: -Make the three actions funny. What makes them funny? They’re silly to kids, and even adults want to do that sometimes. Who wouldn’t want to bang their head against the wall when being stuck with an unsolvable problem?

-The ending is captivating, how your actions come back to help you. You’re trying to do something unsuccessfully but accomplish the ending goal plus it also has additional positive results.

(4) My story: Common kid’s problem and funny solutions.

Problem: kids want to fly

Funny solutions: -dressing themselves as superheroes then throwing a lasso to attach themselves to an ostrich’s leg causing the ostrich to tell them it can not fly.

-attaching to a small blue jays but too heavy

-attaching to a hawk but too heavy

-attaching to an eagle but eagle is not friendly

-attaching to a friendly big bird, it keeps getting away from the lasso until they ask it in a nice way.

One day, little piglet and little bunny wanted to fly like superheroes. They put on their capes and masks but the only thing missing is “I wish we could fly but we can’t.” They decided to find a bird and attach themselves to one of its legs so they can fly with it.

They each got one lasso and walked around looking for birds. First, they saw a gray ostrich and threw the lassos at his legs, and each got a leg. The ostrich was startled and got scared so he ran as fast as he could. The little piglet and little bunny got dragged along, bumped their heads on the ground, waiting for the ostrich to take off. Finally little piglet asked,

“Bird, are you going to fly soon?”

Ostrich turned around and said, “Fly? I can’t fly. I’m an ostrich.”

“Ostrich can’t fly?”

“No, of course not. I’m fast and can get to places quickly without flying.”

“oh, sorry!”

Piglet said to bunny who was rubbing the bruises on his head, “We need to find a bird who can fly.”

They saw a blue jay on a branch. Sneakily and noiselessly they tiptoed close to the bird and threw their lassos at her legs but the lassos were too big and went through the whole body. Blue jay flew up, scowled and asked,

“Hey what are you doing?”

“We are just trying to attach the lassos to your legs so we can fly with you and explore the world.”

“That’s silly. I’m a blue jay and I’m way too small to carry even one of you let alone both of you.”

“Oh, sorry!”

“We need to find a bigger bird.”

(THE BLUE JAY FIRST, THEN THE OSTRICH)

Next they saw a hawk, but again too heavy.

Then the ostrich, little piglet got one leg but little bunny missed so little bunny attached herself to piglet’s leg.

Then the falcon. They got his legs, but that made him mad.

“HEYYYYYYY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”

“We are just trying to attach ourselves to your legs so we can fly with you.”

“BEAT IT OR I WILL ATTACK YOU WITH MY SHARP TALONS!”

Then they saw an eagle. They threw the lassos at his legs but he kept hopping around to avoid it.

“Hey what are you doing?”

“We’re just trying to attach ourselves to your legs so we can fly with you.”

“Ah I can help you with that if you ask me nicely because I don’t like bossy people.”

“Would you let us attach to your legs so we can fly and explore the world with you?”

“Sure, of course!”
